ADR freight

Hazardous goods shipments according to ADR

Road freight for dangerous goods and substances

Does your company need to transport DANGEROUS GOODS, flammable materials, explosives, batteries, diesel or fuel, chemicals? You will need to rely on a company for road transportation and carriers who know how to transfer and move hazardous material and, most importantly, have the permits and training to handle it.

ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) is the agreement that contains the regulatory provisions for transporting potentially dangerous goods on road. The agreement defines in detail how to package, secure the cargo, and mark it.

With S&V Logistics and Transport you will be able to transport your ADR-rated materials with complete safety for your goods, for operators and other vehicles.

Please contact us for information and to hire us to transport your goods on a contract basis domestically and internationally.

How do you ship in ADR?

Dangerous cargo can be transported along domestic and international road networks if it complies with ADR regulations.

Specifically, it can be transported:

  • In packages
  • In bulk
  • In tankers
  • In containers

And the same shipment can be carried out by vehicles with certain characteristics both at the level of engine and trailer.

The vehicle used may consist of a:

  • Truck or van
  • Tractor plus trailer
  • Tractor plus semi-trailer

The regulations prohibit in any case the transport of dangerous goods and substances on vehicles towing more than one trailer (or semi-trailer).

In addition to these provisions, the ADR agreement also presents indications regarding equipment, documentation and authorizations, characteristics of the hauling vehicle, and specific requirements regarding the type of hazardous material or substance being transported.

What SUBSTANCES are classified as ADR?

 These classes are as follows:

  • Class 2 > gases
  • Class 3 > flammable liquids
  • Class 4.1 > flammable solid
  • Class 4.2 > spontaneously combustible substance
  • Class 4.3 > substance which in contact with water emits flammable gas
  • Class 5.1 > oxidizing substances
  • Class 5.2 > organic peroxide
  • Class 6.1 > toxic substances
  • Class 6.2 > infectious substances
  • Class 7 > radioactive material
  • Class 8 > corrosive substances
  • Class 9 > Miscellaneous dangerous goods
